Ahmed Sallam

Ahmed Sallam, M.D., Ph.D., FRCOphth is a Professor at the Jones Eye Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). He specializes in the management of ocular inflammation and infection, as well as in retinal diseases, with expertise in both surgical and medical retina.

Dr. Sallam earned his Medical Degree from Ain Shams University School of Medicine in Egypt. Following his residency training in Egypt, he completed several fellowships in uveitis, medical retina, and surgical retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Barts Health Hospitals in the UK.

Dr. Sallam has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the field of uveitis. His research interests include the science of service delivery, surgical benchmarking, and the use of big data in ophthalmology. He is also deeply involved in resident and fellow education and currently serves as the Ophthalmology Residency Program Director at UAMS
