Hany S. Hamza

Hany S. Hamza is a Professor of Eye Surgery at Faculty of Medicine Cairo University Egypt.

He earned his medical degree at Cairo University Egypt and conducted his residency and fellowship at the same place. He then conducted a research retina fellowship at Wilmer Eye Institute, Baltimore Maryland in 1999. He also conducted a short fellowship program at the University of Essen in the field of intraocular tumors in 2004.

Dr. Hamza specializes in the diagnosis and management of medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases. His practice focuses on all aspects of surgical retina including retinal detachment , diabetic vitrectomy but also includes treatment of intraocular tumors using ruthenium radioactive plaques as well as retinopathy of prematurity and pediatric retinal surgery.

Dr. Hamza served as the General Secretary of the Egyptian Vitreoretinal Society (EGVRS) from 2011 till 2017 and the President of the EGVRS during the period of April 2023 to April 2025 and is currently a member of the board . He is also on the board of the Afroasian Council of Ophthalmology.
