Assist prof. Martina Jarc-Vidmar, MD, PhD, FEBO

 

Martina Jarc-Vidmar graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1995. In addition to her clinical training of ophthalmology at the University Eye Hospital in Ljubljana, she received further trainings by attending the Basic Science Ophthalmology Course at Stanford University in the USA 1997 and by doing an observership at the Moorfields Eye Hospital in London in 2003 and 2006. She finished her residency in ophthalmology in 2005. She was awarded ISCEV travel grant in 1996, and she has also received EBO grant due to her outstanding FEBO exam result – she was ranked first overall at EBO exam in Paris in 2005. She obtained her PhD in phenotype, clinical electrophysiology and genetics of Best vitelliform dystrophy from the Faculty of Medicine at Ljubljana University in 2005, under the mentorship of professor Marko Hawlina.

She is assistant professor in ophthalmology since 2019, currently working at the University Eye Hospital in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Her major clinical and research interests are as following: medical retina including retinal dystrophies, neuroophthalmology and electrophysiology. She has authored/co-authored many peer reviewed scientific articles, mainly in the field of retinal dystrophies and neuro-ophthalmology (LHON). She was a member of the local organising committee which was in charge of organising the European Neuro-Ophthalmological Society (EUNOS) and International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV) congress which was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 2015.

She was an invited speaker on Inherited retinal dystrophies meetings in Ljubljana (ESASO, ERN EYE) and in Slovakia and on LHON experts meetings in Budapest, Prague, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Vodice, Thessaloniki. She is an active member of EURETINA and EUNOS and ERN EYE society.
